The Border Collie is extremely intelligent, alert and responsive. It excels at obedience, agility and frisbee. The Border Collie is highly energetic with great stamina. It does best with an experienced owner who has lots of time to spend with the dog. This breed will get along quite happily with other dogs.

Generally it's affectionate towards friends. It makes an excellent watchdog; it may be sensibly reserved towards strangers. It thrives on human companionship, is eager to learn and to please.  The Border Collie is represented among the leaders in obedience competitions, agility skills and sheepdog trials. If you are not planning to spend a lot of time with the dog, you should consider another breed as this dog is too intelligent to lie around the house all day with nothing to do. It has strong herding instincts.
